Look for the GPS antenna. For GPS to work, the antenna must have a clear view of the sky. It can not work thru metal, but can work thru glass and plastic.
The GPS antenna will be a square patch, usually 1" square, 1/2" thick. There will be a single wire coming from it, going to another box. This box will also have a cell antenna, which could be attached directly to the box, or mounted remotely. Usually they will be mounted under the dash, or in the engine compartment.
Take a look under the hood of your car. Pay close attention to the battery connections. These devices require power, and he will either get the power directly from the battery, or from the fuse box inside the card. Look for wires that are tie wrapped, or are a different color from the ones attached to the same place.
These devices are not cheap, and require a monthly service, so if he’s cheap, it’s unlikely he’d pop for it.
Who has control of your cell phone? Most now have a GPS in them, which can be enabled, and tracked by the owner of the phone. Make sure the account is in your name only, and no one else has control. Turn off the GPS option in the cell phone.

GPS trackers are typically part of a service that you would pay to have if your car is stolen they can activate the tracker – it uses a cellphone to callinto the tracking station and they notify the police.
